Lead the creation of a centralized Commercial Support Team charged with improving company profitability through major improvements in commercial and pricing strategies and tools.
Develop central tracking and reporting, with supporting infrastructure and processes, around: Customer behavior and structural characteristics (including price sensitivity and value).
Competitor behavior, pricing activity, assets and footprint.
Market intelligence related to supply and demand trends in the widget industry.
Leverage the improved tracking into commercially valuable insights for the business, such as:
- Segmented customer price sensitivity and life-time value.
- Competitor pricing strategies and local market natural margins.
Forecast market cost and price movements.
Lead the definition of common core commercial processes such as customer pricing, item level pricing and price architecture, supplier cost and price management, range and complexity management.
Establish and maintain pricing rules and guidelines, including specific detailed pricing targets and minima, at relevant levels of granularity (including by market, customer and product)
Take the lead, working closely with the regional organizations, in informing and coordinating the commercial management and development of national accounts.
Develop, implement and maintain dynamic support tools, policies and processes, to provide guidance and direction to local operations and the field sales force on:
Day-to-day product pricing.
Customer acquisition, development and retention.
Product catalogue review and management.
Supplier commercial monitoring and management.
Maintain and establish appropriate tracking tools to facilitate ongoing compliance and performance improvement.
Partner with regions, finance and sales functions to assist with robust business planning and forecasting.
Partner closely with Product Managers to gather, analyze and integrate customer and pricing data for major product lines.
Initiate and sponsor projects and training to improve pricing strategy, tactics, acumen and processes throughout the business.
Minimum of 4 5 years of experience in sales, marketing, finance or a related field.
Minimum of five years of experience in the development, implementation and management of pricing strategies and tactics
Experience and keen eye towards decision making with data analysis and using of various analytical tools and charts to drive towards establishing pricing guidelines by SKU / Product Family / Application / Customer / Geography
Demonstrated ability to lead or be a part of major business process change initiatives cross functionally within the organization.
Proven record of accomplishment of establishing and managing major projects on time and within budgets.
Strong track record for partnering with sales organizations to implement strategies, processes and systems with a positive impact on sales and margins.
Exceptional communication skills. Able to work effectively at all levels of the organization and across functions and regions. Can clearly communicate complex information in an easy to understand manner. Ability to deliver messages effectively verbally, graphically and in writing.
Understanding of the widget, widget distribution and product distribution sectors is highly desirable.
Exceptional analytical skills and business acumen. Able to understand, structure and simplify complex business issues and processes.
Proven ability to effectively assemble and lead high functioning teams.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Marketing, Engineering or similar discipline is required
